A $50 Lesson

Borrowed from my niece - love it!

A $50 Lesson

I recently asked my friends' little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, 'If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?'
...
She replied, 'I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people.'

Her parents beamed.

'Wow...what a worthy goal.' I told her, 'But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my yard, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house.'

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, ' Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50? '

I said, 'Welcome to the Republican Party.'

... Her parents still aren't speaking to me.

One Smart Little Girl !!

An atheist was seated next to a
little girl on an airplane and he turned to her and said, "Do you want to
talk? Flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow
passenger." The little girl, who had just started to read her book,
replied to the total stranger, "What would you want to talk about?"
"Oh, I don't know," said the atheist. "How about why there is no
GOD, or no Heaven or Hell, or no life after death?" as he smiled smugly.
"OK," she said. "Those could be interesting topics but let me
ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff -
grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty,
but a horse produces clumps . Why do you suppose that is?"
The atheist, visibly surprised by the little
girl's intelligence, thinks about it and says, "Hmmm, I have no
idea." To which the little girl replies, "Do you really feel qualified
to discuss why there is no GOD, or no Heaven or Hell, or no life after death,
when you don't know shit?"

And then she went back to reading her book.

Some random thoughts & updates

2 months later, we are very comfortable with our decision to “get off the road”. We are getting settled in the house, had to rent a storage unit to store overflow stuff from the trailer. Trailer has not sold yet.

Christmas with Rich, Leslie & Leslie’s family was great. Nice having family around for the
Holidays. Laura had a cough & cold for Christmas, & Jerry had it for New Years. We didn’t even go out New Year’s Eve, celebrated at home.

Traded the truck in for a GMC Terrain, here’s a picture. Really like it!

Visits to the Casinos has been limited, to see “The Fab”, eat at the buffets, a little playing.

Jan 9th, Jerry went to work, same location, slightly different job duties. Again only 4 hrs a day, 7 to 11 so have the rest of the day for whatever.

Weather in Vegas has also been quite mild, no rain or snow since early Dec. They even had to close off sledding hills on Mt Charleston due to lack of snow.

Have been following the Republicans, they sure are beating each other up. Just afraid all they are doing is helping Obama out. Fear that this election is going to be VERY nasty. Sooo many posts are going up on the internet that are plain un-truths, I urge each of our friends to fact check before believing what they read.

New news, granddaughter Melissa had her baby, Leora, today! That makes 9 Greats! And granddaughter Priscilla is expecting TWINS in May! How our family continues to grow.
